Sung- Ha Choi

Sung-Ha Choi (nickname Song) was born in the Republic of Korea (South) in 1992 and moved to the Phillippines at the young age of 2. She lived there for six years, having commenced with piano and violin lessons from a young age. 

 

In year 2000, she immigrated to South Africa with her family and continued with her music studies including singing. She sang in several choirs and won competitions for choir and violin. 



She is currently studying BMus (Hons) at the University of Pretoria (1st instrument Violin, 2nd instrument Singing). She has received lessons from Serge Cuca and is currently receiving lessons from Johanna Roos. She has had masterclasses with International Violinists Jan Repko, Frank Stadler, and Denise Sutton. Song is an active chamber musician and teacher (for both instruments), and plays in the University of Pretoria Symphony Orchestra.For Singing, she had lessons with Antoinette Olivier and is currently taking lessons from Dierdre Blignaut.

Dissonance Quartet

Four members of the University of Pretoria - Ashley Bodill (Violin1), Sung-Ha Choi (violin2), Friederike Scholtz (viola) and Laeticia van Wyk (cello) who strive for the best quality sound and detailed interpretation of intense music. We also play for events, offering a free live sample of our repertoire and sounds.

La Luna Trio

We play exquisite music ranging from light musicals and popular music to classical and tango music. This ensemble includes piano (Lindie Brink), violin (Sung-Ha Choi) and cello (Marita Lubbe) who are also BMus Students at the University of Pretoria. The best quality music with experience at playing with South Africa's leading artists. Highly recommended group that is memorable, atmospheric and affordable.
